The Sutter Middle School Music Department boasts a yearly enrollment of over 130 students. We offer a wide array of ensembles in which students may explore their musical and creative sides. Available ensembles include Beginning Band, Beginning Strings, Piano, and our premier performance groups, the Sutter Drum Line and Sutter Advanced Band. The Sutter MS Band has performed in many festivals and competitive parades in the San Fernando Valley and surrounding areas, often bringing home 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies.
During distance learning, Advanced Band Students will be learning their instruments through self-paced instruction using Smart Music. Instructional time focuses on Music Theory concepts that will improve student's musicianship. While there are no scheduled performances during these unprecedented times, students will have the ability to display their talents through a video showcase in the Spring Semester.
Beginning Band and Strings classes will focus on Music Theory, Music exploration, and digital editing during their instructional time. There will be an emphasis in learning to use iMovie and Garage Band on their VILS iPads. All necessary apps for music class are available for download on the LAUSD App Catalog on your student's iPad.
Schoology is the main page for all assignments, grades, syllabus information, and communication. You access Schoology through the App or lms.lausd.net. You can also send an email to Mr. Fausto with other questions or concerns.
