Welcome to Sutter Middle School, a neighborhood school seeking to meet the needs of all students by offering both comprehensive services and personalization. As we serve a diverse community of nearly 900 students, we are able to provide students with access to extensive campus-wide supplemental services. In addition to our counselors and Dean of Students, our health office is staffed with a full-time credentialed nurse, school psychologist, and a Pupil Services and Attendance (PSA) Counselor. A Parent Resource Liaison offers a variety of workshops and programs for parents weekly.
At Sutter Middle School we take a team approach to education. In order to successfully transition students from elementary to middle school, we seek to personalize learning for students by programming students into interdisciplinary teams. Sixth grade teams are approximately sixty students, while seventh and eighth grade teams consist of approximately 150 students. Teachers work closely to collaborate with the families of their teams. Teachers are afforded a common conference period to meet, plan, and conference with parents.
Sutter Middle School students have access to a host of elective courses in technology, visual arts, and performing arts. Specialty electives include Student Leadership, Advancement via Individual Determination (AVID), Yearbook and Marching Band. After school programs are offered through Beyond the Bell on a daily basis.
We aim to effectively communicate with our students and their families. Every week we send home a weekly Connect ED message reminding parents of activities. Please consult our website calendar which is updated daily. If you should have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us 818-773-5800 from 7:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m.
