Sutter Middle School is proud to announce our selection as one of a hundred middle schools nationwide to participate in the Verizon Learning schools initiative beginning in the 2018-19 school year!
Launched in 2012, Verizon Innovative Learning schools equips students and teachers with personal tablets and Verizon 4G LTE connectivity, giving them 24/7 access to the internet for learning in the classroom, at home and beyond. The Verizon Innovative Learning schools initiative also provides a full-time, dedicated technology coach to train teachers on effectively integrating technology into all aspects of learning, across all subjects.
Verizon created Verizon Innovative Learning schools to meet the demands of a rapidly growing digital economy. Today, we have over 4 million jobs in science, technology engineering and math fields and that number will continue to climb. Unfortunately, there are millions students across the country who lack access to technology in schools and exposure to careers in the STEM sector. We need more kids, starting in middle school, to have access to technology tools, resources and hands on learning so that they can compete for the jobs of tomorrow.
Congratulations to our faculty, staff members, and students who shared their best technology-leveraged instructional practices during the rigorous grant application process.
Sutter Middle School is a Common Sense Education Certified School in Digital Citizenship thanks to all of our hard working teachers and staff.
