A program designed to prepare students in the middle who have not previously succeeded in a college preparatory path for admission to four-year universities and colleges.
AVID OBJECTIVES
· To give academic instruction and support to students and prepare them for eligibility to four-year colleges and universities.
· To give students college level entry skills.
· To increase the “coping skills” of program participants.
· To motivate the program students to seek a college education.
· To increase the participants’ level of career awareness.

AVID FACTS
· AVID identifies underachieving, disadvantaged students in grades 6-12 and prepares them for four year college entry.
· Since 1980, when it was started in San Diego, AVID has served over 40,000 students throughout the United States.
· In California, 95% of AVID graduates are in a college or university.
· 71% are attending a four year university.
· 24% are attending a two year college.
· 75% of the graduates are working full or part-time to send themselves through college.
